Direct Acid Stain

For those wishing a distinct look to their floors, direct acid staining is an excellent option. This type of staining is a reactive process; the acid and metallic salts in the mix react with the concrete, creating unique color schemes. As the chemical makeup of all concrete floors vary substantially, no two surfaces will ever be exactly alike. Multiple colors and combinations are available, from watercolor blues to translucent reds; each creating a beautiful surface that is truly original.

Direct acid stain if often the best choice for new construction as it creates beautiful floors for a very economical price. It is possible to apply a direct acid stain to homes that previously had carpet, tile, laminate, or linoleum on them, however, please realize that anything that is visible on the floor after we clean it will still be visible after we stain it. Since it is a translucent process all imperfections will be visible in the final floor finish, (tack strip holes, glue marks, cracks, tile "ghost image", etc.). Depending on your expectations, you may also want to consider a microfinish overlay acid stain where we resurface the floor, virtually eliminating these imperfections.

Direct acid stain floors are generally priced at $2 - $6 ft2. Larger projects have a lower cost per square foot than smaller projects. We have a $1,400 minimum for our work which corresponds to around 275 ft2 for interior floors and 520 ft2 for exterior floors. We can do smaller areas; however the minimum price of $1,400 will apply. This pricing is for residential projects, for commercial projects, please give us a call for a free estimate.
