Cost of Concrete Resurfacing – Trowel Down – Interior – Ver. 4.4
Thanks for dropping by and visiting our Trowel down estimator where you will be able to find out the cost of concrete resurfacing for your interior floors. But before we get ahead of ourselves let’s make sure you are selecting the correct option for your project as we have other available ones. See below for more info.
A trowel down is ideal for interior floors that are not in good shape, i.e., they previously had some type of flooring on them such as carpet, tile, wood, or linoleum. Even after removing them and thoroughly cleaning the floor you will often still see something they left behind. This can be tack strip holes in the case of carpet, glue from linoleum, and a “ghost image” where there previously had been wood or tile. By applying a thin layer of concrete on the floor in a process called an “overlay” we can cover these defects. There are different types of overlay processes but for interior flooring we normally recommend one of two, a trowel down or a microfinish, which one you choose depends on the final result you would like. Basically the difference between the two is that a microfinish overlay creates a smooth floor while the trowel down has a more textured, stone-like appearance.
Now that you know you are in the right place we can now find out what factors affect the cost of concrete resurfacing, specifically for applying a trowel down. The most important factor is the size of the job, the more square feet, the lower the cost per square foot. Next is whether we have to remove flooring before we apply the trowel down overlay. We don’t charge to remove carpet but as wood, linoleum, or tile are not as easy to get up we do have an additional cost to pull them out.
The last factor affecting the cost of concrete resurfacing is whether you would like to score (cut) the floor in a stone or tile pattern. This creates a beautiful pattern throughout the area that makes it really stand out.
